Turkey came to us as a stray in late 2013. He appeared healthy and became a "free roam" cat up in our office area. We aren't sure how or when his injury occurred, but we noticed that he wasn't jumping up on to anything or down from anything if placed up there. He also became very grumpy and it was obvious something was wrong even though we couldn't actually see anything. He was sent to a specialist who ordered an MRI. The MRI showed Turkey had a herniated disc in his back!
An expensive surgery would be required with no guarantee that it would work. We immediately started a GoFundMe page, put out donation jars, etc. We came very close to reaching our goal of $2500 and Turkey has his surgery late in 2014. We were required to keep him down in our isolation/recovery ward for over 2 months and he was NOT a happy cat. He did not want to be confined and kept quiet at all.
We brought him back up to our adoption area in March of 2015. He is now fully recovered, runs, climbs up on chairs and cat trees, jumps down from the desk and is all around his normal self, including an expert beggar! He is available for adoption to the right person. Come down and visit Turkey at our Youngtown location.
